The Kingsferry Bridge to the Isle of Sheppey will be closed to traffic this weekend for filming scenes for a new television series.
Kent Highways has agreed to allow ITV to use part of the old Sheppey Way from the Kingsferry Bridge roundabout to Cowsted Corner from 7am on Saturday to 2am on Monday.
There will be diversions signposted for motorists to use the Sheppey Crossing instead.
A television production team will be shooting scenes for Too Close, a psychological thriller starring Emily Watson.
She was in Sky’s recent horror three-part series The Third Day with Jude Law, parts of which were also filmed on the Island at Harty and Shellness.
In Too Close, set to air next year, Miss Watson plays a forensic psychiatrist who must assess a criminal suspect but ends up falling under his spell.
The same stretch of road is featured in pop star Dua Lipa’s latest music video Levitating which has been viewed more than 7.5 million times.
The distinctive 'four-poster' bridge has also been seen in Top Gear and was featured in a 1975 Christmas special of the BBC comedy Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em starring Michael Crawford who was brought up on the island.
He was filmed trapped in a Hillman Imp on the road as it lifted up to the top of the bridge while having a driving lesson before ending up driving off a jetty and into the sea at Sheerness.
The Island has also been used by Robbie Williams to shoot one of his music videos.
