Sheerness Golf Club captains for 2010 – Velda Merriman, Connor Ryan, Alan Carnt and Ken Quin

Ken Quin has been named Sheerness Golf Club’s men’s captain for 2010.

Quin, who runs a taxi company on the Island, replaces last year’s captain Ian Milne.

Club secretary David Nehra said: "Ian did a superb job for us. He rose through the ranks and has been a member since he was a boy."

Last year the club celebrated their centenary and Quin becomes the club’s 101st captain.

The new ladies’ captain is Velda Merriman, while Connor Ryan becomes junior captain and Alan Carnt is taking over responsibilities of the Rams division.

The new set of captains were inaugurated during the recent club drive-in.
