Sheppey coach Peter Olliver says his side won’t give up on the Kent 1 title, despite off-field sanctions leaving them needing an on-pitch miracle to catch leaders Ashford.
The Islanders will not get to replay their game at Lordswood earlier in the season – which was abandoned amid fighting between players and supporters.
While the club were not docked any points for their involvement, the game was declared void as a 0-0 draw meaning Sheppey are 11 points adrift of Ashford and are only able to cut the gap to six with victory in their game in hand.
Olliver (pictured) said: "With hindsight, I think we got off OK with the Lordswood outcome. There was a stage when they were deliberating that it looked like we might be about to get a hammering."
He added: "If we take maximum points from our game in hand, then we’ll be six points behind. It is still mathematically possible for us to win the title but realistically Ashford will have to lose twice and that’s just not going to happen.
"They could maybe drop a couple of bonus points here and there and lose one but we still need to win every game and take every bonus point.
"No matter what, I’m sure it will be an entertaining end to the season. Hopefully we can finish second at worst and could still earn ourselves a play-off for promotion."
Sheppey do not play on Saturday which means one less game for suspended duo Martin Robinson and Chris Bain to miss.
