Sheerness Library will be closed for two weeks while it is moved to a new home.
It will shut on Monday, November 7, while the books and equipment are relocated to the Gateway Centre in the high street.
Construction work at the former Woolworths store is due to be finished by tomorrow (Friday) and the centre is due to open to the public on Monday, November 21.
Birkby Construction has been working to refurbish the site since winning the tender in May.
There will be two floors bringing together Kent County Council (KCC) and Swale Borough Council services together under one roof.
Customer service staff will be on hand to assist with inquiries about a whole range of services from adult education and birth and death registrations to social services and housing and council tax benefits.
There will also be free access to the internet and a number of self-service stations will be available.
No books currently on loan from the library will be due back during the two week period it is closed, but anyone wanting to return them can take them to Minster, Queenborough or Sittingbourne libraries.
KCC, which currently runs the library, rents its existing home in Russell Street, Sheerness, so it will be back in the care of the landlord once everything has moved out.
