Minster library is to close for three months for a revamp.
The building, in Worcester Close, will be fitted with a new roof, windows and flooring and the interior will be refurbished.
It will close on Monday, February 18 and reopen on Tuesday, May 7.
While it is shut, its staff will be working from other libraries in the borough.
On Tuesday, ahead of National Libraries Day on Saturday, a talk time session was held there.
It takes place every week and is a chance for people to get together, have a chat, play games such as cribbage or Scrabble and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee.
Customer service assistant Jacqui Clive said they are looking forward to seeing the results of the refurbishment and hope it will be a change for the better.
Talk time takes place every Tuesday from 10.30am - 11.30am and anyone is welcome to go along.
