Sheerness lifeboat called to Queenborough

Sheerness lifeboat had to tow a training yacht to safety after it lost power and ran aground at Queenborough on Saturday.

The all-weather lifeboat The George and Ivy Swanson was launched at 4.51pm in force 7 winds after coastguards reported the 35-foot sail training yacht Spitfire, with four people aboard, had drifted and become stuck on mud.

The lifeboat arrived at 5pm.

The lifeboat was back on station at 5.50pm.
