If you’re looking for fun this weekend, it’s all happening at Barton’s Point Coastal Park.
The venue, off Marine Parade, Sheerness, is hosting the Sheppey Pirates as well as the Iconic Legion and Sheppey Model Engineering Club’s Sheppey Takeover event.
Today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday) from 11am to 4pm the buccaneers will be showing guests what it’s like to live like one of them with musket ball-making lessons, sword fighting, a fancy dress competition and cannon and musket fire demonstrations.
From 7pm today, there will be a party with an open-air disco and live bands.
Tomorrow there will be a huge water bomb fight which it is hoped will break world records.
Children aged up to 13 will be needed to defend the Island from the invasion.
Also today, from 10am to 6pm, costumed heroes will be on site for a show.
There will be special appearances by actors from the Star Wars saga, Alan Flyng and Stephanie English, with more to be announced.
The extravaganza is to raise money for the Dogs Trust.
Sheppey FM will be providing the musical entertainment and the model trains will also be running.
