A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of trying to smuggle banned items into a prison.

The man, from Croydon, was arrested at about 7.30pm on Sunday after he was seen acting suspiciously near HMP Standford Hill in Eastchurch.

Officers found a pillowcase hidden nearby.

Inside were a mobile phone, charger, alcohol, razor blades, tobacco and 50 tablets which were believed to be Oxymethelone.

The man has been released under investigation while inquiries are carried out.
