Man held by police on suspicion of arson

A man has been arrested for arson with intent to endanger life.

It comes amid reports an object was lit and pushed through a letterbox in Sheerness in the early hours of yesterday.

The 32-year-old local man was today in police custody following his arrest last night. He is being held on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

Police and firefighters were called to a property in St Georges Avenue just before 1am after reports an object was ignited and pushed through a letterbox.

No one in the property was injured and the fire was quickly contained.
