Man injured by a forklift at Peel Ports, Sheerness Docks

A man has been taken to hospital after being injured by a forklift in Sheerness.

The accident happened at 8.30am and two ambulance cars, an ambulance and a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) were called to Peel Ports off Brielle Way.

The man in his 50s was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital as a priority suffering with back and hip pain.

He was fully conscious.

A Peel Ports spokesman said: "“We can confirm there was an incident at the Port this morning.

"Emergency services were called to assist and the employee has been taken to the local hospital to be assessed.

"We take the health and safety of our staff and contractors operating on the port estate seriously and are currently investigating the incident.”
