A man has appeared in court after a police officer was "violently headbutted".
One officer was taken to hospital needing treatment for facial injuries after the incident in Marine Parade, Sheerness.
Police were called to a report of a disturbance in the street at around 4pm on Sunday and as a suspect was being detained a member of the force was headbutted, knocking them to the floor.
The suspect then ran from the scene while the officer was taken to hospital.
The following day Steve Mander, of Marine Parade, was located, arrested and later charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm to an officers and escaping lawful custody.
The 27-year-old appeared at Folkestone Magistrates' Court earlier today where he was remanded in custody.
He will next appear at Canterbury Crown Court on July 12.
