A man who sexually assaulted a vulnerable victim in an alleyway after spending the day drinking has been jailed for 38 months.
Sean Rye, from Sheerness, attacked his victim in an alleyway off Cromer Road in Strood, as he went out to buy more alcohol.
The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to one charge of sexual assault and has been jailed .
Maidstone Crown Court heard Rye had started drinking at around 2pm on April, 6, and had assaulted his vulnerable victim later that evening while he was having a seizure.
Officers arrived at his home address almost a week after the assault and arrested him. He attempted to flee but the officers chased him and arrested him a short distance from his house.
Investigating officer PC Danielle Stanton, of Kent Police's Medway vulnerable adult investigation team, said: "This was a cowardly assault by Rye on a vulnerable victim who was not in a position to defend himself.
"Kent Police will do everything we can to protect victims and prosecute those who commit cowardly and aggressive crimes such as these."
