A man arrested after a 16-year-old boy was attacked in Sheerness town centre has been released.
Police were called to the High Street at about 11.30am yesterday and detained a 26-year-old man from Sheppey on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
Witnesses said a man stamped on the boy's head before leaving the area.
The victim's father, Joe Cato, said his son Bradley was taken to King's College Hospital in London by air ambulance in a critical condition.
A police spokesman said: "The arrested man has been released on bail until January 3 and the victim remains in hospital in a stable condition."
A section of the High Street was cordoned off from Russell Street to Victory Street for more than five hours while forensics officers carried out their investigations.
