Man stabbed in High Street, Sheerness

Police descended on a town centre after a man was stabbed in the stomach in Sheerness.

The air ambulance was also called following the attack, which happened near the Ivy Leaf pub in the High Street at about 9pm yesterday.

Another man reportedly suffered a head injury in the incident.

When air ambulance crews arrived, the stab victim had already left the scene.

Paramedics took the other injured man to Medway Maritime Hospital by road.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police is investigating an alleged assault in the area of High Street, Sheerness, at around 9pm on Sunday 19 July.

"A man in his 20s is thought to have suffered injuries consistent with a stab wound. It is not thought he received hospital treatment.

"It is thought the victim and suspect are known to each other. Enquiries are ongoing."
