A dance school’s spectacular Michael Jackson tribute show raised the roof at the weekend.

Ninety dancers, aged from two to 25, from the Helen K School of Dance took part in Beat It on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Merlin’s Entertainment Complex in Leysdown.

The show was packed with Michael Jackson classics and videos of the star accompanied the dancers.

A huge two-tier stage with a catwalk went through the audience to add to the magic of the show.

Some of the highlights included performances of Dirty Diana by dance pupils Sophie Kyriacou and Joe Ingleton, and They Don’t Care About Us.

Another favourite was Smooth Criminal, which included an impressive moonwalk by Robert Chavda.

Money raised from the performances will go back into the dance school.

Tutor Helen Kyriacou said: “The shows were amazing – on Saturday and Sunday we were completely sold out and people were paying for standing room.

“I’m overwhelmed – the cast was absolutely amazing and the little ones stole the show.

“I don’t think anything had been done like that before on the Island.

“Thank you to my cast for supporting me – we did a fantastic job and it’s a credit to them.”
