Minster face a top-versus- bottom clash in Kent Cricket League Division 2 on Saturday when they travel to Tenterden.

Unlike in the club’s recent history, the Islanders are the strugglers this time around but captain James White is confident his team will pull away from trouble soon.

White (pictured) said: "We’re seven games in and we know that a maximum 20 points at the weekend could see us climb as high as fourth, so we’re not far away.

"People say we’re bottom but one win will change everything. We just need to keep our focus and hope to do well on Saturday.

"We were looking to stay up this year and on our day we can upset anyone. There is no way we are out of our depth.

"After six promotions in seven years we’re not used to be walking off having lost. The guys just need to keep their chins up, focus and we’ll be fine."

On Saturday Minster’s run of two successive wins ended with a four-wicket defeat to high-flying Broadstairs.

White added: "It’s not back to the drawing board for us but we do face another tough game against Tenterden. They lost at the weekend to an Orpington team who we had stuffed so that’s given everyone a boost."
