A SHEERNESS man with Alzheimer's Disease who sparked a major police hunt yesterday afternoon has been found safe and well.
James Wallace, 66, had not been seen since failing to get off a train in Sittingbourne at 1pm. He was eventually found in North London at 3.30am this morning.
Mr Wallace was travelling home from London with his brother when he failed to get off the train at Sittingbourne.
His brother, whose had got off the train first and realised Mr Wallace had not followed him, raised the alarm with station staff.
The train was due to stop at every station to Thanet and stations across Kent were alerted.
Kent Police notified British Transport Police and neighbouring forces about his disappearance. Mr Wallace's state of mind was described as "very confused".
Officers also checked CCTV footage and contacted hospitals to try and gather leads on his whereabouts. His brother rushed between stations with a photograph in the hope of finding a positive sighting.
It is thought Mr Wallace got off at Faversham and got on a train heading back towards London. He was eventually found by police in Stoke Newington, North London, 14 hours later and reunited with his family.
Police say Mr Wallace has disappeared before. He is hard of hearing and has difficulty communicating.
