Fire crews hoist horse stuck in water-filled ditch to safety in Minster, Sheerness

A large horse had to be lifted out of a water-filled ditch with a crane after getting stuck.

Fire crews were called to help rescue the troubled steed in Drove Road, Minster, Sheerness.

One fire engine attended just after 7.30am on Wednesday morning, as well as an animal rescue and water safety units.

Crews wearing dry suits used mud paths and a crane to lift the horse, named Waffle, to safety and she was placed back on dry land by 9.20am.

The horse has since been left in the care of her owner.
