A mum is warning others after finding bugs in an unopened packet of Aldi pasta.
Rae Gray was cooking penne for her pasta-loving three-year-old when she discovered the creepy crawlies.
The 24-year-old said: "I understand these things happen and it is not Aldi's fault but I wanted to raise awareness to anyone who may have brought the same batch as me.
"I brought the 29p pasta two weeks ago, it was unopened and still in date when I got it out the cupboards for my son, Ezra, and I to eat.
"That's when I saw them moving and jumping around on the pasta."
The part-time Teynham chef, who lives in Warden Bay, posted her discovery on social media to warn others and called Aldi so the budget supermarket would take the batch off their shelves.
After researching online the mum-of-one believes the bugs are weevils.
They are not harmful to humans or animals, however, they can cause extensive damage to stored cupboard foods.
Rae continued: "I've been buying pasta for years and I've never had this problem.
"From now on I will be checking every pasta packet thoroughly, I'm scarred for life.
"After seeing the bugs it made me all itchy, I had to shower and clean the kitchen.
"Even talking about it now makes me itchy.
"I just don't want any other people possibly feeding the bugs to their children."
Rae said another woman messaged her and said she had the same problem.
She added: "I rung Aldi so I could warn them but the customer service helper just said she'd leave a message for the store.
"It didn't really seem like they were bothered about preventing this from happening to someone else."
A spokesman for Aldi said: "Although very rare, incidents like this can occasionally occur if packaging is damaged at any point before the product is consumed.”
