Discount chain Poundstretcher is on its way to Sheerness High Street.
The budget retailer is due to fill the empty unit left by Store Twenty One, which closed in July after the company went into administration.
The new store, which is expected to open its doors in October, will feature all the chain’s favourites such as discounted groceries, toiletries, laundry products and bargain homewares.
A Poundstretcher spokesman said: “We are extremely excited about opening a Poundstretcher in Sheerness and serving our good value products, which shoppers across the country have come to love. We look forward to welcoming our new customers to the store when it opens.”
“It’s unclear exactly when it will open, but it is probably going to be around the middle of October,” he added.
Poundstretcher, which currently has about 390 stores across the country, is already advertising three jobs for the Sheerness branch on its website.
These comprise a store manager role, a deputy store manager and a trainee store manager.
A description on the job adverts says: “Due to growth and expansion, we currently have a number of management opportunities in our store at Sheerness.
“We are looking for a driven and hard-working individual who has excellent working knowledge of fast-paced and high volume retail business.”
It is not yet known how many new jobs will be created but the spokesman said the firm will be advertising other vacancies soon.
Meanwhile, at Neats Court, Queenborough, it is understood coffee giant Costa will open a new branch on Saturday, September 2.
It will be the company’s first venture on Sheppey.
However, fast-food lovers will have to wait a little longer for the eagerly-awaited Burger King.
The date has been further delayed due to problems with gas supply at the unit.
It was originally set to open on Thursday, July 20. No new date has yet been set.
