Elmley Nature Reserve on Isle of Sheppey forced to close due to water supply issues

A popular beauty spot, which hosts weddings and overnight stays, has had to turn away visitors due to a water supply issue.

Elmley Nature Reserve, on Sheppey, has had to cancel tours and close its site today after being left without water.

The family-run farm, which covers 3,300 acres of wilderness on the Island and is also a luxury staycation location, announced the issue on social media this morning.

A statement said: "Unfortunately the reserve has been closed today and tours cancelled due to us having no water supply.

"We hope to be reconnected soon but have no information about when yet.

"We're very sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding."

A spokesman confirmed to KentOnline bookings had been cancelled and customers informed following the closure but that the nature reserve is hoping to restore water at some point today.
