A man, woman and one-year-old child had to be winched to safety by rescue helicopter after becoming stranded on a Sheppey beach on Saturday night.

They had been cycling along the coast path from Sheerness to Eastchurch before they were cut off by the tide.

They first made a 999 call to police after getting stuck at the bottom of cliffs near Minster.

A rescue helicopter from Wattisham in Suffolk was dispatched to winch them to safety, helped by a team from Sheppey coastguard.

They were unhurt in the incident.
