This year is the 40th anniversary of the greatest TV comedy stunt ever staged at Sheerness beach.
It involved Michael Crawford in the guise of one-man walking disaster Frank Spencer driving off the town’s jetty and into the sea.
The scene formed part of a Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em 1975 Christmas special and has been repeated many times since.
Hundreds of people packed the town’s beach to watch former Islander Michael perform his daring, comic deed.
