Sheerness radio lover supported by Cartref Homes visits kmfm studios

A radio-lover was granted behind-the-scenes access to Kent’s biggest station as his carers hoped to give him a birthday treat.

Stuart Fomes visited kmfm today (March 20) where he was given a tour of the studios by breakfast presenters Rob Wills and Numi Gildert and daytime host Andy Walker.

The Hank Marvin and Cliff Richard fan was given the opportunity to see how the team produced and planned their radio shows and even got their autographs.

Stuart is a resident of Sittingbourne-based care service Cartref Homes which looks after adults with autism and learning disabilities in supported living within the community.

His carer said Stuart, who lives in Sheerness, is often in his bedroom listening to one of his five radios or plugging his headphones into the music available at the library.

They wanted to arrange a special treat for their radio-obsessed resident to celebrate his birthday later this month.

They said: “The team have been so lovely, it has been so nice. He has been talking about visiting for days and has been so excited about it.

“Our residents have weekly plans such as when they will go shopping but it is the same, general day-to-day life so when they get an opportunity like this, it means a lot.”

Rob and Numi added: "It has been great being able to give people in Kent the chance to come and see where the magic happens.

“For some, just like Stuart, having a look around the studio and meeting the presenters he listens to can bring a smile.”
