Four candidates have been revealed for an upcoming by-election.
The Tories, Labour, Swale Independents and Liberal Democrats have announced who they wish to run for the Minster Cliffs seat for Swale council.
It is taking place following the death of former Tory councillor Ken Ingleton, who passed away on July 11.
The borough’s former mayor was described as a “great friend and role model.”
The by-election for his now vacant seat is to take place on September 14.
The Sittingbourne and Sheppey Labour Party have selected Ed Baldwin to fight for the position.
He said: "I am delighted to have this opportunity.
“The Cliffs ward already has one Conservative and one Independent – it is time to renew Labour representation in Minster after a number of years.
“As it happens Labour was already active in Cliffs in preparation for the General Election, and there is widespread concern about the performance of the government; on the economy, the environment, on health, education and policing,”
A spokesman for Sittingbourne and Sheppey Labour added: “We have had widespread approval of the choice of Ed who is an Islander and is passionate about involving local people.”
Meanwhile the Tory party have chosen the former representative for Sheppey Central, Oliver Eakin, to stand as their candidate.
Mr Eakin was ousted during May’s Swale borough elections.
A spokesman for the party said: “Oliver will be out talking to residents and delivering leaflets across Minster.
“We wish him the best of luck with his campaign and hope he can retain the Conservative seat on the council.”
The two other parties hoping to gain ground in the ward are Swale Independents and the Liberal Democrats.
They have chosen Peter MacDonald and Edward Currie respectively to be their candidates at next month’s election.
