Sheppey coach Pete Olliver is confident his players will not over-indulge this Christmas as they know they have plenty of hard work ahead in Shepherd Neame Kent 1 before the end of the season.
The freezing weather means Sheppey have been without a league game in December, with two postponements immediately before the festive break and they do not return to action until the visit of leaders Ashford to Stupple Field on January 8.
However, Olliver was confident his players would be professional enough to return in good condition once the festivities are out of the way.
He said: "Most of the lads are disciplined and take good care of themselves, going to the gym.
"I can’t be their dad, it’s up to them but I’m sure they will be responsible over Christmas and the New Year.
"We had our meal on Tuesday, about 30 of us met up to have a meal and a few drinks, Lucozades, obviously. I’m sure they’ll look after themselves this week."
He added: "It’s a bit frustrating because with the break, it’s going to mean we’ve gone five weeks without a competitive game by the time we get back.
"With the weather as it has been, it’s not even been possible to get a practice match or anything arranged.
"It’s not ideal and has upset our momentum but the lads are chomping at the bit to get back."
