Sheppey coach Peter Olliver says his side have to forget their superb victory over Kent 1 leaders Ashford and focus on beating Beccehamian on Saturday.
The third-placed Islanders beat the table-toppers 20-0 two weeks ago, before seeing Saturday’s trip to struggling Whitstable called-off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Olliver revealed he stepped in to talk to his players at training when they were discussing the victory over the leaders in the build-up to the Whitstable fixture.
He said: "The lads were talking about it but I had a word with them.
"We can’t keep patting ourselves on the back for beating Ashford. That game is gone and I told them that.
"The players all keep looking at the table. They know what’s going on, but we need to focus on the rest of the season."
He added: "Every game is important. We will not take any game lightly, although it is important that if we have a game won, that we push on to try and get the bonus points."
Sittingbourne’s defeat to Old Gravesendians means Sheppey can go second if they secure maximum points from their game in hand. Flanker Aaron Mills is set to miss out after suffering a facial injury at work.
