A keen photographer and former dock worker is exhibiting some of his work.
Martin Verrier is displaying 15 images at the Sheppey Gateway, High Street, Sheerness.
The 59-year-old used to work in the ship repair industry on the Island and his show ties in with the 20th anniversary of the closure of the Medway Drydock and Engineering Company’s yard, where he was based.
The photos feature the buildings as well as the ship repair work and the industry which was there.
Mr Verrier, from Upnor, said: “It’s a summary of the history of the dockyard and it’s relevant at the moment because of the restoration that’s going on there.
“I think people who work there now can relate to the restoration and people who have worked there over the years as either dockers or stevedores or those who worked in ship repair will be attracted to the photos.”
The exhibition, called Sheerness Dockyard and Ship Repair at Sheerness, will be there for a month and available to view during the centre’s opening hours.
