A police helicopter was scrambled late last night to search an area of Sheerness.

The chopper was spotted hovering over the former Thamesteel site, in Brielle Way, at 10.20pm looking for a number of people who reportedly trespassed there.

It was previously thought the helicopter was linked to the search for a man following the death of a woman in Benenden yesterday afternoon.

A police spokesman said: "We searched the area but were unable to locate those responsible.

"No criminal offences were reported."
