Police were called to Sheerness today after a suspicious package was found at a bus stop.

The item was spotted in Bridge Road, opposite the railway station, shortly before 1.15pm.

A police spokesman said the package was "quickly found to be non-suspicious".

It had been removed from the bus stop by 1.30pm.

No road closures were put in place and no other emergency services were called.
