Police are searching for a man and have closed off a number of roads after reports came in of a person with a weapon.

Officers were sent to Kent Avenue, Minster, Sheppey, at about 8.25am following reports of a man with an offensive object.

Armed officers responded, as well as the police helicopter, and a number of road closures have been put in place.

A spokesman confirmed the following day, Wednesday, that efforts to track the man down were still ongoing.

The roads closed included nearby Johnson Avenue and Marina Drive.
