Detectives are investigating a serious sexual assault on a woman in Leysdown.

The attack is reported to have happened in the area of Shellness Road in the early hours of this morning.

Police said they were called shortly after 3am.

A police spokesman said: "Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident."

No arrests have yet been made and police could not confirm the age of the victim.
