A Post Office which looked set to move to a new site will now remain at its existing home - "for the time being".
Plans were put forward by bosses to move Queenborough's branch, on Sheppey, from Main Road to the High Street.
A consultation took place from September 9 until October 21 last year in a bid to get people's thoughts on the proposal.
Network provision manager for the Post Office, Jason Collins, has now written a letter to residents explaining why it will remain at its current site.
He said: "During the consultation we received a large number of comments and feedback from customers and local representatives.
"These mainly focused on distance between the current Post Office and the proposed location, as well as parking and the internal space at the proposed location.
"I’m now writing to let you know that the proposed new operator has decided not to progress their application to operate the branch.
"Queenborough Post Office will therefore continue to operate from the current site for the time being.
"Any new location proposal would be subject to a further six-week period of local public consultation."
Speaking after this week's announcement, residents appeared pleased with the outcome.
One person said: "At last they have listened to the public."
Meanwhile another described the decision as "excellent news".
It is not the first time the branch's future has been up for discussion.
The Post Office first suggested the shop be moved to Queenborough High Street back in 2018.
However it was also rejected when a similar consultation found people wanted it to remain in Main Street.
