An imaginative gift created by Island children to celebrate Princess Charlotte’s birth has received the royal seal of approval.
Tracy Jones, of Western Avenue, Halfway, said the youngsters she child-minds were thrilled to receive a missive on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
It was a regal “thank you” for a card the children sent to Buckingham Palace last month.
It featured a painting of a ballerina dress and included the handprints of its seven young creators.
They added a message, which read: “For your little Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. Here are all our handprints to show how much we care.”
Tracy said she and fellow childminder Clare Newbury were “jumping up and down” when the Palace replied - the children were just as excited.
The VIP letter contained a picture of William Kate and Charlotte for each child who had a hand in the card along with a message which said the Royal couple were “most touched” the youngsters “had taken the trouble to write”.
Tracy said the message will be added to the children’s portfolio as a pointer to future teachers about their pre-school learning.
She said: “On the day we sent the card we took the children to the Post Office and the postmaster let them stamp the letter.
“It was part of their ‘how people help us’ learning. It was so nice to receive a reply.
“Sending the princess something was about us showing community spirit.”
