Dangerous driving suspect's bail cancelled but police probe continues into Sheppey Crossing crash that killed Deborah Roberts and son Marshall

A man arrested on suspicion of causing the deaths of a mum and her young son in a bridge crash has had his bail cancelled - but the probe continues.

Police say the 31-year-old from Essex is still being investigated in relation to the fatal smash on the Sheppey Crossing last July.

The man's bail was "cancelled" but members of the police’s serious collision unit are continuing to look into his involvement.

The accident, which happened on the Sittingbourne-bound carriageway of the bridge on July 1, claimed the lives of Sheerness residents Deborah Roberts and her eight-year-old son, Marshall.

They died after a van and the Renault Clio they were travelling in collided.

Marshall's brother Archer, seven, was injured in the incident and taken to hospital for treatment.

The van driver was questioned after the crash and released on bail until today.

A police spokesman said the investigation is ongoing.
