A centre for people with dementia has thanked pub-goers who helped raise money for new equipment.

The Coppice in Fourth Avenue, Eastchurch, held a fun day back in July to support Oakdene care home in Minster.

Landlady Teresa Summers said she decided to help out as her father-in-law Carl Cottle was looked after there before being moved to hospital – and one of her customer’s husbands was there, too.

In total they raised £1,400, which has been put towards a massage chair for the Minster Road building.

It cost £2,000 in all, with the home putting in the rest.

It has already been very popular with residents as it helps out with their circulation and relaxes them.

Mrs Summers said: “I would like to once again thank all the customers from the pub who supported us and my husband Peter who helped all the way.”

Oakdene manager Tracey Gobbi said: “On behalf of all the residents and staff I would like to say thank you very much.”
