Awards were presented to Oasis Sheppey Academy students for outstanding performances in two very worthwhile fields.
Three youngsters gained certificates of excellence after taking part in work experience placements.
Ella Williamson, who did a placement at Abbot Laboratories in Sittingbourne, was highly praised for her “attitude, flexibility and interest in the job”.
Katie Willis won friends at St George’s primary for her “good relationships with children and eagerness to learn” – plaudits that will stand her in good stead as she hopes to become a teacher.
Ellis Stephenson, who worked at community charity Sheppey Matters, earned special mention for getting “stuck into everything” and showing “loads of initiative”.
Certificates were presented by Toni Clarke, manager of Medway Education Business Partnership and David Millar, the academy’s executive principal.
Twelve students also took part in the Princess Diana Awards for Anti-Bullying Ambassadors.
They spent a day at Arsenal Football Club’s Emirates Stadium, learning how to support peers who might be on the receiving end of intimidatory behaviour from fellow pupils.
Lyon Malherbe and John Fagg won awards and smart phones for their Instagram photos taken as part of an online workshop.
Along with other anti-bullying ambassadors, they will be supporting academy students through break-time drop-in centres.
They will also deliver assemblies, sharing what they learnt in the workshops.
