A centenarian had an unforgettable birthday party when she opened a card from the King.
Doris Jefferies lives at Willows Residential Home in Minster, and had her celebration planned by her family and members of staff.
Nicknamed 'The Queen of the Willows', Doris enjoyed her birthday at the home's conservatory surrounded by her son Brian, his wife Audrey and her three grandchildren.
Baby Anastasia, one of Doris's seven great-great-grandchildren, was also present to celebrate the occasion.
The 100-year-old received a special card from King Charles III, which was delivered at the end of last week ahead of her birthday and the celebrations on Tuesday.
It had a picture of His Majesty at the front, and a caring message to Doris inside, reading: "My wife and I are so pleased to know that you are celebrating your one hundredth birthday on 22nd November, 2022.
"This brings our warmest congratulations and heartfelt good wishes on such a special occasion."
Doris was born in 1922 – the same year the BBC was founded, which first broadcast on October 18.
The USSR was formed later that year on December 30.
Wimbledon also had a big inauguration a century ago, as its Centre Court was built and hosted its first match in June 1922.
Doris married her husband Lesley in 1943 and used to work for the Post Office in Sheppey before retiring.
Doris, who is the oldest resident and the only one aged 100 at the home, burst out laughing when Willows deputy manager, Carline Telford, described her as "definitely a diva".
"She likes things a certain way and we always make sure they're done just how she wants it. She has a really wicked sense of humour," Carline said.
She added: "Doris is also still really independent for being 100. She still walks around with her frame and still does man things by herself.
"She cannot believe she is turning 100."
