More than 350 people attended the free family fun day at Seashells children and families centre making it the best ever.
A variety of stalls kept visitors entertained and one of the most popular was the stocks, where SureStart director John Fowler proved a popular target for people’s wet sponges.
Other attractions on Saturday included hoopla, a coconut shy, bouncy castle and face painting.
Mayor and Mayoress of Swale Cllr Adrian Crowther and Mrs Pamela Berry attended and judged the fancy dress competition, which was won by eight-year-old Samuel Webster.
At the various activities the children had scorecards and needed to win points to enter a competition to win one of two donated big prizes.
Sharon Thomas, Events, Publicity, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at Seashells, said “It was a terrific day, probably the best Fun Day yet! The weather was really good to us and it was just really good seeing so many families and their children having fun in the sun.”
Sharon also thanked the many volunteers and parents who helped on the day and to those who made donations totalling more than £160, which will help the centre provide various events and services in the future.
Organisers would like to thank the following businesses that made donations – Scania GB Ltd, Ginger Hair & Beauty, Rob’s Grocers, Stadium, Daisy Chains, You, John Setterfield Grocers and Card Gallery.
