Hundreds of pounds has been raised at a fun day in aid of a children’s respite centre.

It was held at the Halfway House pub, on the corner of Halfway Road and Queenborough Road, last Sunday.

Activities included face-painting, a barbecue, a raffle and live music from seven bands.

The fun day raised money to help Preston Skreens until it shuts later this year.

Around 250 people attended, including some youngsters who use the centre. At least £500 was raised.

Manager Sarah Lewry said it was a fantastic day. She added: “I’d like to thank our stage manager Jon Muckle, Darren Bass and Darren Caine for supplying the PA system, the businesses in Halfway who donated raffle prizes, Brambledown Farm Shop, who donated, and everybody who came along and helped out.”
