Police urged motorists to take alternative routes while arrangements were made to rescue the vehicle.

Pictures on social media showed the crane leaning in a ditch facing oncoming traffic.

No injuries have been reported.

Large machinery was required to haul the crane from the ditch.

Traffic was able to pass the scene for most of the day until the recovery took place, leading to a full road closure and long delays through Minster for diverting traffic.

As of 4.30pm, the road was reopened.
