A rowing race held in memory of a former mayoress took place at the weekend.
The second annual Ronan Row, organised by Queenborough Rowing Club (QRC), was held on Sunday.
It was organised in memory of the club’s former treasurer Jennie Ronan who died in September last year.
Two teams from QRC took on a team from the Port of London to travel the 10 miles from Queenborough Harbour to just past the bridges and back.
Port of London were the winners – finishing in 62 minutes – and were presented with a shield by Jennie’s husband Alan.
It was a shorter distance than planned because of the weather but QRC event organiser Caroline Wilson said that didn’t dampen spirits. “It was a nice day, we had great fun but it was cold and windy,” she said. Well done to all who took part.”
There was also a barbecue held at the club, in North Road, after the race.
