Most Rev Ian Ernest, Archbishop of the Indian Ocean visits St George's primary in Sheppey

St George’s primary hosted a VIP visitor.

The Most Rev Ian Ernest, Archbishop of the Indian Ocean, was guest of honour at the school in Chequers Road.

He was accompanied by the Rt Rev Trevor Willmott, Bishop of Dover, with the pair being treated to an assembly which included an ascension service.

During the ceremony children released balloons containing prayers in the school grounds.

Head teacher Howard Fisher said the Archbishop’s visit formed part of St George’s twinning process with a school in Madagascar.

He said: “It was a real privilege.He was in England for four days and ours was the only school he attended.

“It was a good opportunity for the children to meet someone from a different country and culture.”
