Oasis Academy pupil flashed in Sheerness as she made her way to school

A concerned mother has issued a warning after her 15-year-old daughter was flashed as she made her way to school.

The Oasis Academy pupil was walking to the Sheerness site, on Marine Parade, around 8.20am today when a man allegedly exposed himself to the youngster.

Her mother spoke out in the hope of preventing the same thing happening again.

The mum said: “She was walking through the Richmond Street alleyway and noticed a man and two teachers ahead of her.

“But when the teachers got through the alleyway, the man turned to my daughter and had his pants down and exposed himself to her while walking towards her.

“She turned and ran in the opposite direction and grabbed another student, as she was in such a state, and told her what happened and was taken into the school.”

The girl, who lives in Sheerness, described the man as around 5’8 and wearing dark tracksuit bottoms.

She added that he was in his 40s and was wearing a beanie-style hat with his hair completely covered.

The girl’s mother added: “She is in shock and at home with me now. She just didn’t expect to see something like that. The school is aware and the police have been contacted.”

Academy principal John Cavadino is now warning people to remain vigilant.

He said: “We have been made aware of this incident and it has been reported to the police for investigation.

"We are unable to comment on the details of the case but wish to remind our young people and the community to be vigilant and report any unusual activity to the police.”

Police confirmed they are investigating reports of a man exposing himself in the area and said inquiries were ongoing to establish the circumstances around the incident.
