Eastchurch primary staff say they are “thrilled” with the school’s latest Ofsted report.
Inspectors gave the school a good rating – the second highest available – in all areas following a visit to its All Saints and St Clement sites last month.
It represents a progressive step for the school, which received a grade three – “requires improvement” – score in the previous report two years ago.
In a joint statement, heads of school Sarah Hunt and Michelle Crowe said: “We’re absolutely thrilled with the result and feel this is a reflection of the combined efforts and dedication of all the staff, governors and parents on both sites over the last couple of years.
“We aspire to enable our children to be the best they can be, and we’re keen to make rapid progress on the areas identified for improvement.”
In the latest report, pupils’ good behaviour and their pride in the school was recognised.
The “close partnership” between Eastchurch’s two head teachers was praised for having galvanised leadership, which had helped “set precise expectations” for high quality teaching.
It was noted most children reach a good level of development and there was “strong provision” for spiritual, moral, social and cultural progression.
“The only complaint brought to the inspectors’ attention was that pupils want Eastchurch to go on to Years 7 and 8 so that they do not have to leave,” the report said.
To attain the highest grade and earn an outstanding rating, the report said rates of progress in mathematics needed to improve.
The inspectors also said subject leaders needed to train colleagues effectively. The joint heads added: “We’re a school moving forward and very excited by the future.”
