A search operation was launched after a boat was reportedly stolen from Sheerness seafront.

The RNLI inshore lifeboat Eleanor was scrambled amid allegations three men had stolen a vessel and were heading out to sea.

It happened at around 9.50pm on Friday night.

The volunteer crew spent an hour searching up to a mile offshore but found nothing and returned just after 11pm.
