Pictures and stories from the big freeze of 1963 are needed by Blue Town Heritage Centre.

They are for a free show called Sheppey Remembers, which takes place from 3pm on Sunday, January 25.

It focuses on the bitter winter 51 years ago during which the Thames Estuary froze.

Anyone with celluloid, pictorial or anecdotal evidence of the never-to-be forgotten cold spell is asked to share their memories.

Jenny Hurkett, who runs the centre, said: “It may be that someone has a bit of film we can put onto the big screen. We’ll also be recording people’s stories for the show which will include a 10 to 15-minute talk on the subject.”

Jenny said items relating to the show will be stored in the centre’s archives.

Sheppey Remembers will be held on the last Sunday of every month, featuring a different topic each time.
