Gavin Tait is hoping to exact his revenge on Bulgarian fighter Danny Dontchev when he competes in Kent for the first time in his professional career next month.

Welterweight Tait, who trains in Queenborough, wants a rematch with the British-based Dontchev after controversially losing to him in London at the end of January.

Referee Robert Williams handed Dontchev a points victory and 34-year-old Tait is ready to put the record straight.

Tait is one of six Kent boxers on the bill during the Battle at Medway boxing show, along with unbeaten pair Tom Dallas (Chatham) and Martin Welsh (Swanley) at Medway Park Leisure Centre on March 18.

“I thought I had won fair and square in my last fight and that there was only one winner,” said Tait, who has been fighting as a professional since 2004.

“I really want to fight him again and hopefully that will happen. I’m hungry for this fight to happen.”

Both Tait and Dontchev are managed by Mickey Helliott.

Tickets for the show are priced from £30. To book, call the box office on 01634 338338.
