An 11-year-old girl walked away with two sashes at a beauty pageant after entering for the first time.
Megan Ingram won a trip to Disneyland Paris after being crowned the winner of Junior Miss Face of Kent and Junior Miss Charity at Folkestone on Sunday, April 21.
The double prize winner said: “It was the best feeling ever. I didn’t expect it. It was a complete surprise.”
Megan lives in Essex, but stays with her dad David Ingram, who runs the Royal Hotel, Broadway, Sheerness, at weekends.
He said: “It is every girl’s dream to be a princess in Disney and she has that now.”
Megan’s mentor is her cousin, Sheppey beauty queen Nicole Harris, who encouraged her to go along and get some experience.
During the Face of Kent competition, contestants were judged on dress sense, how they described themselves and their party outfits, and they had interviews behind stage.
To win Junior Miss Charity, Megan raised £28 for brain injury group Headway during a charity karaoke event the week before she entered.
The family had added celebrations at the 90th birthday party of Megan’s grandmother Doris Ingram at the Royal on Saturday.
