THE Sittingbourne-bound carriageway of the Sheppey Crossing was closed yesterday morning after an accident.

It happened just off the bridge on the Iwade side when a car spun out of control after hitting a bucket in the road.

The vehicle crashed into the central reservation barrier.

Police and ambulance crews were on the scene at about 8.45am.

Traffic was diverted over the Kings Ferry Bridge. The driver was uninjured.
